In Detail

Simplified User Interface with Export Schemes

In the course of the implementation of the new User Interface design, we introduce export schemes, which are pretty similar to Atlassians Blueprints.

Confluence- and Space-Administrators are now able to define export schemes which can either be used globally or only in specific spaces. In this export schemes all export settings like selecting the template, controlling the caption-position, linking and table handling can be defined once. This allows the users to export the content by just selecting the wanted export scheme without defining any settings. Exporting your visually styled documents was never that easy.

Nevertheless, users still have the ability to browse and customize all settings, Confluence- and Space-Admininstrators can as well overwrite the export schems after exporting.

All our screens and UI-elements are now more consistent, clearer to read, and besides are following the Atlassian Design Guidelines (ADG).

Overhauled Default Template

We've completely overhauled our Default Template, allowing you to export visually styled content out of the box. Of course you can download the template in our template library or create your own template completely from the scratch.

Scroll Versions Integration

Scroll Office 3.0 is now fully compatible with our content management add-on Scroll Versions. Exporting a version and a variant is as simple as ever:

  1. Select the wanted version and variant.
  2. Export your content to Microsoft Word.

For more information, see Exporting a Version with a Scroll Exporter in the Scroll Versions Documentation.

New Placeholders

For a better control of dynamic content in your templates, we've implemented a number of new placeholders:

  • Space properties placeholders such as the space key, space name, or space URL.
  • Scroll Versions related placeholders such as the page status, or the name of the exported version.
  • Global Logo placeholder.

For more information, see Using Placeholders.

Enhanced Word Functionality Support

In Scroll Office 3.0 we improved the support of existing Word functionalities:

  • Configurable Captions: It is now possible to define the position of your table captions and figure captions in the exported Word file.
  • Auto-fill table of contents: The TOC  is now updated automatically. You don't have to use any Word-macros anymore, and missing TOCs in your exports are things of the past.
  • Repeating Table Headers: If you have long tables over several pages here is the solution. Scroll Office 3.0 now allows to repeat the table headers.
  • List Styles: Last but not least we've implemented the support of list styles. It is now possible to define list styles for multiple levels.

For more information, see Creating a template.

Improved Linking Handling

It is now possible to control the handling of links in the exported content. We've implemented the following linking options:

  • Display the URL after internal and external links
  • Deactivate all internal, or all external links

For more information, see Exporting to Word.

Ad Hoc Workflows Support

Scroll Office now has fully Ad hoc Workflows support, meaning that you can control that your exported content contains only pages published with the Ad hoc Workflows plugin. Exported pages with the wrong page status are a thing of the past.

For more information, see Exporting to Word.

French Translation

To more simplify the use of Scroll Office for our international customers we have translated the whole user interface of Scroll Office into French.

Overall we can now offer Scroll Office in three languages:

  • English
  • German
  • French
