We're proud to announce Magnolia, the latest Orderly Databases for Confluence release.
With this release comes more advanced field types for your databases, new ways to create pages from your databases, and more.
Read on to learn what this latest release means for your databases:
More Advanced Field Types
For more complex use cases – like mastering your team's partner management – you might require the ability to link multiple databases to each other.
You'll now find three new advanced field types in Orderly Databases to level-up your database structure providing you with new ways to link between two databases:
Lookup field type – Display a specific value from a linked database entry. This field requires an existing entry link in the same database.
Backlink field type – Display or count links from another database in which this entry is linked.
Page labels field type – Display and edit labels from a linked confluence page. This field requires an existing page link field in the same database.
Dynamic Locations for New Pages
Linking pages to your database entries is a great way to create and manage additional metadata of your pages. If you allow page creation in the field settings, your team can create new pages directly within your database.
With Magnolia's release, your page creation flow will be enhanced as users can now choose between three location options for new pages:
Under fixed parent page – This is the default setting. New pages will be created under the defined parent page.
Under dynamic parent page (based on macro location) – New pages will be created under the page where you add the new entry. If pages are created via the database overview, the fallback parent page – which can be defined underneath the page location settings – is used.
Based on field value – New pages will be created under a selected page within the page link field type for the same entry. If there's no other page to be referenced upon saving the changes, the fallback parent page will be used.
Here are some other improvements that you'll notice with this latest release:
Default value – Default value is applied to all entries when creating a new field.
Live updates – Page renamings and label changes are updated in all references without having to reload the browser.
Print preview – Quickly print databases and entries via the more menu.
Database navigation – Go to database from your entry macros via the more menu.
New entry creation – When creating a new entry, the first field is now focused even if it is not the title field.
- Highlighted users – Current user is highlighted in blue:
