With Scroll Documents, you can easily manage the restrictions of your multi-page documents. You have control over who can view, edit the the content, and update document metadata like labels or document status.

To edit document restrictions, open the document in the Viewer, and click on the Restrictions item on the left navigation bar:

You can choose to manage restrictions of either the 'current' version of the document, or any previously saved versions by selecting the version from the dropdown menu:

Once you've selected the version, you can decide what restrictions to apply by selecting the options from the restrictions dropdown:

Here are how each of these restrictions behave in more detail:

If set, then the user/group will be able to - 

  • View the document in the Document Overview
  • Open the document in the Document viewer and access all the content
  •  View all the pages in document in the Confluence Page Tree
Can edit pages

If set, then the user/group will be able to - 

  • Edit all the pages of the document 
Can edit metadata

If set, then the user/group will be able to - 

  • Edit the Document title from the details view in the Document Overview
  • Edit the Document Summary from the details view in the Document Overview
  • Edit Document Labels from the details view in the Document Overview
  • Update the Document status in the Document Viewer

You can choose a combination of these options to manage restrictions of your documents.

If any user/group is permitted to view the document, they will be able to add new pages to the document as well.  If you would like to prevent a user/group from adding pages to your documents, you can revoke the 'Pages → Add' permission from the Space Permissions screen.

How to restrict the document to specific users or groups

Start by revoking permissions for 'Everyone'. You can do this by unchecking the corresponding checkboxes in the restrictions dropdown:
