Why Does the Site Update Include Pages I Didn't Change?
The site updates screen may list pages that were recently updated in your site, even if you didn’t make any recent changes to the pages in Confluence.
This is because the site updates screen will consider both those pages that you or your team have directly edited, created or deleted but also any dependent pages.
Dependent pages are those pages whose content is indirectly affected by the changes you make on pages somewhere else.
A page typically depends on other pages because it includes:
Links that reference other pages
Macros (e.g the child pages or filter by label macro) that reference other pages
Example Scenario
A site update scenario that includes a dependent page involving a child pages macro would be as follows:
You delete the page ‘Page 1’ which is a child page of ‘Page 2’.
‘Page 2’ includes a child pages macro which lists and links to ‘Page 1’.
You didn’t make any recent changes to 'Page 2'.
As a result, the site updates screen will list both ‘Page 1' and 'Page 2’ as being updated in the site, for the following reasons:
‘Page 1’ needed to be deleted in the site as you deleted it in Confluence.
‘Page 2’ needed to be edited in the site as Confluence removed the reference to ‘Page 1’ from the child pages macro that is on ‘Page 2’.
