Inconsistent Page Tree Order

If you notice inconsistencies in the page tree order within your Scroll Documents-managed spaces, this article explains the potential cause and provides a workaround.

Symptom

You observe the following in your Scroll Documents-managed space:

  • Your saved version(s) have a different (unexpected) page order than the Working version.

  • The Confluence page tree in the sidebar differs from the page tree in the Reorder view.

Cause

Due to bugs like CONFCLOUD-80368 and CONFCLOUD-7323, Confluence’s page tree in the sidebar is not always consistent with the page tree in the Reorder view (in the space settings). Scroll Documents' components that visualize a page tree—such as newly created versions or translations—use the more established page order from the Reorder view. This takes precedence over the order displayed in the Confluence space sidebar.

Troubleshooting

To check if you're affected:

  1. Navigate to Space Settings > Reorder to open the reorder page tree view.

  2. Expand the page tree to view its full structure.

  3. Compare this order with the Confluence sidebar page tree.

If the orders do not match, you may be affected by the aforementioned bugs.

Next steps

As next steps we recommend:

  • Consider reporting the issue to Atlassian Support.

  • Try the workaround below.

Resolution

Since this behavior is outside our control, we cannot provide a direct fix. However, you can try this workaround:

  1. Navigate to Space Settings > Reorder to open the reorder page tree view.

  2. Ensure the pages have the correct order, if not adjust accordingly.

  3. If it does not update the page tree in the Confluence sidebar, manually adjust the page order in the sidebar to match the Reorder page tree view.
