Overview
Some users may receive an in-app message in the Scroll Word Exporter export dialog and template list informing them that an update is required.
Context
This message appears because the version information for Scroll Word Exporter installed on your Confluence instance contains outdated app descriptor entries.
Making sure the correct version is installed is important due to our ongoing efforts to migrate the app to Atlassian’s Forge Cloud platform .
Outdated app entries will prevent a seamless migration of app data to Forge, and will affect the availability of your custom export templates.
What is Forge?
Forge is Atlassian’s cloud app development platform, allowing developers to host apps on infrastructure that is provisioned, managed, monitored, and scaled automatically by Atlassian. Migrating to Forge will become a necessity for Marketplace apps, like our own.
When is the App Being Migrated to Forge?
We plan to migrate Scroll Word Exporter to Atlassian’s Forge platform towards the end of Q1 2026.
How to Update the App?
To ensure that the version of our app on your Cloud instance is correct, you need to follow these steps.
Step 1
Reach out to our K15t support team - using the link below you can create a support ticket with pre-populated text.
In order to verify whether the app version on your instance is currently affected, please add the following information to the created ticket:
-
your Confluence Cloud URL
-
the version number of Scroll Word Exporter
-
accessible for admins via admin.atlassian.com > [select Confluence instance] > Apps > Sites > Connected apps. After this locate the app entry and select View app details
-
Step 2
Once you have spoken with our support team, and we have confirmed that the app details on your instance are outdated, the next step involves uninstalling, and then re-installing our app on your Cloud instance.
The following steps are required for Scroll Word Exporter to re-register correctly.
Uninstalling the app
To uninstall an app from Confluence Cloud, admins must first Unsubscribe. After this, the option to Uninstall the app will become available in the site administration.
Re-installing the app
Once the app is uninstalled, Scroll Word Exporter can be re-installed via the Find new apps section in the Confluence administration.
Opening a support ticket with Atlassian
Contact with Atlassian is required in order for Atlassian to re-associate your paid app subscription with your Confluence instance.
Please note, uninstalling and then immediately re-installing the app will not affect your app data, meaning your custom export templates will remain unaffected by the uninstall process.
Conclusion
Once these steps have been completed, the app will be updated and will allow for Scroll Word Exporter’s app related data to be migrated successfully when it moves to Atlassian’s Forge platform.
Within the created K15t support ticket, we will then be able to confirm that the process has led to the app being successfully updated.
