Preselect Export Templates

It is possible to automatically assign an export template to a Confluence page. After following the steps in this guide, an export template will automatically be selected in the export dialogue when an export is initiated.

Steps

1. On your chosen Confluence page that you wish to export, add a

   page label

   .

2. Then, navigate and edit your custom export template ( learn more)

   1. Within the Export default settings section, add your defined Confluence page label

      

   2. Save the changes and close the template editor

3. Navigate to the Confluence page that you wish to export and via the page tools ••• select the option Export to Word (with logo - Confluence Data Center) or Export with Scroll Word Exporter (Confluence Cloud)

Outcome

After following the described steps the chosen export template will be preselected when exporting a Confluence page with a matching page label. The export template preselection will automatically be reflected in the export dialogue and template list overview:

• The export template is preselected

  

• A new Suggested template section is visible in the template list dropdown

  

• The defined page label in a template will be displayed in the template list overview

  

Considerations

It remains possible that more than one Confluence page label can be defined on a page and therefore within an export template. In such a situation the following information explains the expected behaviour.

Scenario 1

• A created Confluence page contains multiple page labels - label-1, label-2, label-3, label-4

• Three export templates have been created

  • Template A contains the labels - label-1, label-2

  • Template B contains the labels - label-1, label-2,label-3

  • Template C contains the labels - label-1, label-2, label-3, label-4

Expected behaviour: Template C is preselected as it contains more matching labels. The other matching templates will be displayed in the Suggested templates section in the template drop-down.

Scenario 2

• A created Confluence page contains multiple page labels - label-1, label-2, label-3, label-4

• Three export templates have been created

  • Template A contains the labels - label-1, label-A

  • Template B contains the labels - label-1, label-A,label-B

  • Template C contains the labels - label-1, label-A, label-B, label-C

Expected behaviour: Template A is preselected as it contains the same number of matching labels as the other templates but also contains less non-matching labels. The other matching templates will be displayed in the Suggested templates section in the template drop-down.
