Backbone Work Sync 4.11.0

March 2026

Backbone Work Sync 4.11.0 is now available. This release includes the syncing of work item and parent links across spaces. It also includes two bug fixes regarding how Backbone retrieves workflows and retrieves fields in team managed spaces.

Backbone has been reliably syncing work items and related Jira data across instances. However, work item links and epic/parent links were not included until now.

With this release, work item links and parent links are now also synced along with the corresponding work items. This ensures you retain the full context of your work, even when collaborating across multiple spaces and instances.

How does it work?

Let’s look at an example with two Jira instances, each containing multiple spaces:

  • Instance 1: Space A and Space B

  • Instance 2: Space X and Space Z

You configure syncing as follows:

  • Space A → Space X

  • Space B → Space Z

Now, imagine work item A-1 in Space A is linked to work item B-1 in Space B.

After syncing:

  • A-1 is synced to X-1

  • B-1 is synced to Z-1

  • New: X-1 is automatically linked to Z-1

What you need to do

Want to use this new functionality? Here’s what you need to know:

Already syncing work item links or parent links?
There’s nothing you need to do. Cross-Space syncing works automatically.

Want to start using it?
Add linked issues and parent to your field mapping in the sync configuration.
