Backbone Work Sync 7.1.0 is now available. This release contains a fix for the security vulnerability notified in Backbone Work Sync Security Advisory 2026-04-29 and is a recommended upgrade.
In line with the fix, it also includes an update on how the Sync Panel visibility is configured: simplifying the way you control whether the panel is shown or hidden and making it more secure.
Sync Panel Visibility
By default, the Sync Panel remains visible to all Jira users. Access is now managed through the view-sync-panel permission, which can be configured at either the global or space level. You can grant access to specific user groups or to no one, hiding the panel accordingly.
At the global level, this permission controls access across all spaces. At the space level, it applies only to synchronized work items within that space. More information about showing and hiding the sync panel can be found in this article.
Please note: If you had hidden the Sync Panel before, it will now be visible by default. To restrict access again, configure the new permission. This change does not affect access by your users to the underlying data.
