Coming soon: Publishing and exporting translated document details
Please note, the ability to export translated document details using our Scroll Exporter apps and publish them to Scroll Sites is currently under development. Therefore, for now, you can translate the details within the app, but these translations cannot yet be published to Scroll Sites or exported with the Scroll Exporter apps.
In addition to translating your page content, you might also need to translate the Document details to ensure this information is available in every required language. This is especially important if you plan to publish to Scroll Sites or export your content using Scroll Exporters, as it ensures that visible metadata remain in a consistent language for your users.
The Document details you can translate include:
-
Document title
-
Document summary
For Scroll sites, this refers to the title and description on your documentation’s landing page. This same information is also displayed on a tile within the global portal page if your site has multiple content sources.
For Scroll Exporters, this applies when you use the Document Title placeholder to export the translated document title.
In this article, you’ll learn how to translate your Document details.
How to Translate Document Title and Summary
To translate the Document details, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to the Document Settings and click Translations.
-
Check the box "Translate Document's title and metadata."
-
Click on the General tab within the Document Settings.
-
You will now see a language dropdown. Select the language you wish to translate into.
-
Translate the document title and summary as needed, then click Save.
When you switch the language picker, you will see the content update to reflect your selected language.
If no translation is provided for a document's title and summary, it will fallback to the title and description of the authoring language.
