Send a Support Request

Describe a problem on the support page and send it to the support team, with or without an account.

The widget asks what is wrong before it asks anything else, and offers help center articles that may answer the question. If none of them help, the text you typed becomes the summary of the request, so you do not have to type it twice.

You do not need an account to send a request. You need one to see it again afterward. See Sign In to the Support Widget.

Describe the Problem

  1. Open the support page of the help center.

  2. If you are not signed in, click Create support request, or sign in first to keep your requests together.

  3. Under How can we help?, type what is happening. Keep it to one line, up to 255 characters, because this becomes the summary of the request.

  4. Click Continue, or press Enter.

Check the Suggested Articles

The widget searches the help center for what you typed and shows up to three articles.

  1. Read the suggestions. An article you click opens in a new tab, so you keep your half-written request.

  2. If an article answers your question, stop there. Nothing has been sent yet.

  3. If none of them help, click Continue.

If the search is slow, the widget stops waiting after about seven seconds and lets you continue anyway. If the search fails, a Try again button appears next to Continue.

Choose What the Request Is About

  1. Under Contact us about, choose the group the request belongs to. The widget skips this step when there is only one group.

  2. Under What can we help you with?, choose a request type. Each one shows its name and a short description.

Fill In and Send the Form

  1. Fill in the fields. A red asterisk marks a required field, and any instructions from the support team appear above the form.

  2. If you are not signed in, enter your email address under Email confirmation to. The support team replies to this address, and the request is filed in your name.

  3. Attach any files that help. See Attach Files to a Request.

  4. Click Submit request.

What happens next depends on whether you are signed in:

  • If you are signed in, the widget confirms the request and opens it, so you can follow it right away.

  • If you are not signed in, a confirmation shows the new request key and invites you to sign in to see the request.

If a Field Cannot Be Filled In

A few Jira Service Management (JSM) field types are not supported in the widget yet. The most common are fields linked to Assets, user pickers, and time fields. The widget shows a message in place of the input.

If such a field is optional, you can leave it empty and still send the request. If it is required, you have to send the request from the JSM portal instead. The message on the field links to the portal.

If that happens often, let the support team know. They can usually make the field optional or replace it.
