Cannot See Scroll Sites in the Apps Menu

After adding users to the scroll-viewport-admins group, the app still doesn’t appear in the Confluence UI for those users.

Symptom

After following the instructions on Permission to Use the App to extend app usage permissions to non- admins in Confluence, the app still doesn’t appear anywhere in the Confluence UI for those users who were added to the scroll-viewport-admins group.

Only Confluence admins can see and therefore access and use Scroll Sites.

Explanation

There are several possible explanations for this error:

  • The changes to the newly created user group aren’t being taken into account yet

  • The installation of Scroll Sites is faulty and affects the correct behavior of the scroll-viewport-admins group

Resolution

In order to be able to give those users added to the scroll-viewport-admins group access to Scroll Sites, please try the following steps, in the same order as detailed below.

Log out and in again

  1. Make sure you are logged in as a user who is part of the scroll-viewport-admins group

  2. Click the user icon logo in the top right Confluence menu

  3. From the account menu, click ‘Log out’

  4. Log in again as the same user

If Scroll Sites is still not showing in the top level Confluence menu under ‘Apps’, please proceed with the next steps.

Ask Atlassian for support

Please reach out to Atlassian support:

  1. Request that they initiate a search reindexing for your Confluence.

  2. If that doesn’t work, please request that they reinstall the Scroll Sites app for you.
