If you cancel your Scroll Sites subscription or uninstall the app, your site and the underlying data are not deleted immediately. Data is kept for a defined retention window so you can re-install the app, change your subscription, or recover your content without losing your site.
What Happens When You Uninstall the App
If you uninstall the app without deleting your site first, the live site stays online and all of its data is preserved. This is intentional, so you can re-install the app or adjust your subscription without losing anything. The site continues to be visible to your readers during this period, even after the license has ended. To take a site offline, you need to explicitly delete the site from the app.
Retention Timelines After Cancellation
Data retention is staged. Once your subscription ends, the following windows apply:
-
Site and content data preserved for at least 35 days — the recovery window during which a re-installation or subscription change will restore your site without any data loss.
-
Logs retained for 7 days after the retention period starts.
-
Data stored for a maximum of 180 days after you unsubscribe. After that, all remaining data is permanently removed and can no longer be recovered.
Recovering Your Site and Data
Within the retention window you can recover your site by re-installing the app or restarting your subscription. Your previous site, content, and configuration will be available again — no manual restore step required. If more than 180 days have passed since cancellation, your data has been permanently deleted and a recovery is no longer possible.
Removing Your Data Sooner
If you'd like your data removed before the standard retention window expires, delete the site in the app before uninstalling. Deleting the site takes the published content offline and removes the associated data on our side immediately?
