Scroll Content Quality 2024-04-23

Welcome to the new Scroll Content Quality! We’re very excited to officially move out of Beta and into General Availability (see more about this transition in: From Beta to Beyond: Introducing Scroll Content Quality GA with Transition To Paid Model. In this release, we’ve changed things around under the hood, redesigned the user interface, and added new functionality. Below you’ll find a brief overview of the changes; full details for all features are available in our documentation pages.

New UI for configuring rulesets

Unlike in earlier versions of Scroll Content Quality, where your rules were determined by a YAML file, each rule can now be configured individually using a familiar and intuitive UI. Rules are grouped into rulesets, and each ruleset can be enabled or disabled as needed. Users can still view and edit YAML files for rules and rulesets as needed via the Advanced Edit Mode. This also makes it easy to copy and paste rules from one space (or Confluence instance) to another.

Bundled rulesets

Scroll Content Quality now ships with pre-built rulesets so you can get up and running quickly. Based on customer feedback and our long experience using Confluence for documentation, our bundled rulesets allow for helpful functionality from checking for broken links to making suggestions for how to use more inclusive language and avoid business jargon.

Our Documentation Style Checker also provides rules to help ensure clear, concise, and uniformly-styled documentation and is inspired by our K15t internal style guide. Of course, the way we do things may not be the right fit for you, so it’s super easy to make a copy of the bundled rulesets and customize them to your heart’s content!

Finally, we also offer rulesets specifically tailored to users of Scroll Viewport and our Scroll Exporter apps (Scroll PDF Exporter, Scroll Word Exporter, and Scroll HTML Exporter). These rulesets give advice about best practices and make sure content contributors have properly configured macros and page elements so everything works together smoothly.
