Unpublish a Site

Select the site visibility option ‘unpublish’ to avoid going live with a newly created site or make an already live site unavailable.

Keeping a site unpublished or unpublishing a site is useful for when you aren’t ready to share your content with your audience yet or if you want to temporarily make your site unavailable but keep all its configuration.

A site that is unpublished is only available and visible to you through the links provided in the Scroll Sites app.

Keep A New Site Unpublished

When creating a new site, you can choose to go live right away (exposing your content to everyone publicly on the web) or keep the site unpublished until you are ready to expose your site on the web (publicly or behind a login protection).

To keep a newly created site unpublished:

  1. From the Confluence sidebar, click Apps > Scroll Sites.

  2. From the My Sites screen, click Create site. The site creation wizard opens.

  3. In the step Set up your site, under Site visibility select Unpublished.

  4. Click Next and complete all the rest of the steps.

  5. Click Create.

Your new site is now created but only accessible and visible through the View site link in the left sidebar of the site details screen.

You can change the site visibility to Live anytime by clicking the Go live button in the left sidebar of the site details screen. This will make your site available to everyone on the web.

Unpublish a Live Site

To unpublish your live site:

  1. From the My Sites screen, click the card that has your site’s name.

  2. From the left sidebar, click Site settings → General.

  3. Under Visibility, click the button Unpublish.

Unpublishing your site restricts access to the site. You can only access the site by clicking the site links provided in the app.

You can bring it live again by going back to the Visibility site setting.

Alternatively, you can also completely delete your site.
