Customize Page Types

Customize pre-defined pages of the type portal, content source, article and search results using the theme configurator.

The help center theme includes five different page types (or page templates) which pre-define the structure and layout of your content. Each page within your help center is built using one of these five page types.

All page types except for the 404 page can be customized further using the settings in the theme configurator.

Please note: Settings are applied at a page type level, meaning the changes will be applied to all pages of that type, across all content sources within that help center. Individual pages can’t be customized with differing settings.

Overview of All Page Types

Portal page:
The portal page is your site’s landing page if you add more than one content source to the site.

The portal page unifies all of the content sources with an overview in the form of content source tiles as well as a search bar that searches all of the site's content.

Clicking a tile will take the user to the corresponding content source page.

Content source page(s):
The content source page is your site’s landing page for one particular content source.

This page is built using the information from your space overview page or Scroll Documents root page.

The content source home page provides search and navigation within a specific content source.

In the site hierarchy, it sits under the portal page (if it exists).

Article page(s):
The article page is where the actual content from the Confluence pages that are nested under your space home page or Scroll Document root page is displayed.

In the site hierarchy, it sits under the content source page.

Search results page:
One search results page is rendered per site.

It can be accessed by initiating a search from any page and clicking ‘All results’.

404 page:

The 404 (page not found) page is shown if a user tried to access a link within your site that doesn’t exist (e.g the page was removed, hidden, or the user mistyped the link).

The 404 page includes a link back to one of the landing pages and a search bar to give users an option to navigate to a relevant page.
