Enable and Customize Cookie Consent Management

Enable a cookie consent management dialog for your help center theme to let your users give or revoke their consent for cookies and other data tracking technologies.

Enable Consent Management

To show a dialog in your site that lets users manage their cookie preferences, you have to first enable this option in the theme configurator:

  1. Open the theme configurator under Site Settings > Look and Feel > Customize theme.

  2. Click the Cookies tab

  3. Under Cookie Consent Management enable the Consent dialog toggle.

  4. Click Save changes.

Your change will now automatically trigger a new site update (for sites set to live updates) or be applied with your next site update (for sites set to manual updates).

Customize Consent Management

Once the dialog is enabled, you can configure how the dialog behaves and displays in your site using the options in the theme configurator.

  • Consent mode: Select between opt-in and opt-out behavior.

    • Opt-in: Tracking (setting the cookie) doesn’t start until the visitor explicitly gives their consent.

    • Opt-out: Tracking starts upon opening the site and continues until the visitor explicitly rejects their consent (please note that this setting is not GDPR compliant).

  • Heading: Overwrite the default heading “Cookie Preferences” with your own default text.

  • Description: Overwrite the default description with your own default text.

  • Links: Add a link name and link URL, for example to your privacy policy.
