How Does the Launch of 'Scroll Sites' Affect Me as a Viewport Cloud User?
Scroll Sites is a new K15t app that overhauls and improves the current version of Scroll Viewport for Confluence Cloud.
Scroll Sites will eventually replace Scroll Viewport for Confluence Cloud, which is why in some months from now we will ask you and all existing users to move to our new app Scroll Sites.
You can already sign up to our private beta if you would like to start testing or using Scroll Sites before its official launch. Your participation in the beta is voluntary and you can test Scroll Sites all while continuing to use Scroll Viewport as you do now.
Read on to learn what to expect in the coming months so you can plan accordingly.
What Is Scroll Sites? Why Is It Replacing Scroll Viewport Cloud?
Scroll Sites is a new Confluence Cloud app that will be launched later this year and is set to replace Scroll Viewport for Confluence Cloud by 2026.
Just like its precursor, Scroll Sites makes sharing information and knowledge from Confluence to the web easy for all teams. However, we created Scroll Sites from the ground up to overcome some of the shortcomings that were inherent to the original implementation design of Scroll Viewport Cloud.
Scroll Sites will eventually include all the existing Scroll Viewport Cloud features. Additionally, it will include some new highlights.
New features in Scroll Sites
More themes - We enable more publishing use-cases with themes for blogs and more.
Live updates - Choose to have your site automatically update when something in Confluence changes.
Publish blog pages - Besides choosing to publish normal pages from a space or Scroll Document like today in Viewport, you can now also choose to publish only the blog posts of your space.
Detect broken links - Get a list of any links included in your content that lead to 404 pages.
Re-use same domain for multiple sites - Connect the same domain to more than one site and differentiate the sites by adding a site path (e.g.
help.example.com/site-path
)Flat and hierarchical URLs - Besides having your URLs follow a flat structure like today in Viewport, you can now choose a hierarchical structure to reflect the exact hierarchy of the page in your site.
What’s the Plan and Timeline?
What Should I Do?
For now, you don’t have to take any action. However, we invite you to start testing Scroll Sites early to familiarize yourself with the app and move to the new experience as soon as possible.
Here’s what you can do:
Now: Sign up to our private beta.
Once you get access to the beta: Create your first test site in Scroll Sites.
Once we launch officially: Replicate your existing Scroll Viewport sites in Scroll Sites and go live.
Once your Scroll sites are live: Delete your existing Scroll Viewport sites.
Keep using and managing your sites from Scroll Sites.
