2023-10-17
We are pleased to announce the release of Scroll Viewport 2023-10-17 which is an improvement and bug fix release.
In this release we introduce a new design token system inside the Help Center theme's custom CSS. Design tokens will allow you to use custom CSS to easily, stably and quickly brand your site and create a unique style.
If you have injected custom CSS into your site and use any of the legacy custom properties, you should switch to the new ones as soon as possible. More below.
We have also released further accessibility improvements for interacting with the following elements in a site:
Language picker in the footer
Expand macros
Search page submit form
With this, we are on our way to reach WCAG 2 A compliance for the help center theme.
Highlights
Level up your CSS customizations with our new design token system
In this release we have introduced new CSS custom properties and deprecated some existing ones to create the foundation for a new design token system in the Help Center theme.
You can use tokens to create new theme styles that align your theme's appearance with your brand's needs.
Design tokens are considered stable while enabling great customization abilities. They are therefore the recommended way to style your Viewport site.
If you have injected custom CSS into your site and use any of the legacy custom properties, you should switch to the new ones as soon as possible.
To ease the switch, we will continue to support a selection of the most used legacy custom properties until December 2023. After that date, every theme must be using the new design token custom properties in order to maintain customized styling.
