2023-02-23
We are pleased to announce the release of Scroll Viewport 2023-02-23 which is a feature, improvement and bug fix release.
In this release we introduce support for Scroll Page Titles which make it possible to use duplicate page titles in Viewport.
We have also re-designed the template for article pages and significantly improved the ranking and presentation of search results. It’s now overall easier to find the information you’re looking for.
Highlights
Better and more accurate search
We’ve improved the ranking of search results to help your help center visitors find the information they’re looking for.
Pages that exactly match the entered search term are now ranked higher in the search results page than fuzzy matches.
If using versioned Scroll Documents as content sources:
The quick search results on the portal page now only show results of the latest version(s). That way your visitors can glance over results without seeing the same page from different versions all over the page.
Users can click on ‘All results’ from quick search results to reveal pages from all other version on a full-page search results page. Pages from the latest version are given a boost so they show up on top.
As part of our new design for article pages (see highlight below), we have also removed the ‘enhanced search' option on article pages.
This option was introduced with Scroll Viewport Cloud 2021-05-31 to equip the search with our quick search feature. This feature has now been added to the ‘simple’ search, making the ‘enhanced’ option redundant.

New design for article pages
We have transformed the template for article pages to make help center articles easier to read and to navigate.
It also consolidates some of the article template settings to reduce complexity for users who are editing the theme.
At a glance, the changes include:
Reducing the article content width in order to limit characters per line
Centering the article content between the left-hand article navigation and right-hand table of contents. This also impacts the content in the inAppHelp view which now gets positioned in the center of the page, instead of aligned to the left
Consolidating the ‘wide’ and ‘narrow’ layout options
Consolidating the ‘simple’ and ‘enhanced’ search options
Re-designing the article navigation (left-hand page tree), including new icons
Re-designing the table of contents with more prominent highlighting
If you have customized your site with custom code, we recommend to preview how the changes impact your site and check all the variables that we have removed with this change.
