Scroll Viewport Cloud 2022-09-19

We are pleased to announce the release of Scroll Viewport 2022-09-19 which is an improvement and bug fix release.

With this release we are starting to roll out performance improvement to specific customers. These performance improvements will make site generations a lot faster for bigger sites.

Additionally, we have added a ‘Site language’ field in the ‘New site’ creation process, removed some site cookies, fixed problems with distorted footer logos and search results pagination in the site and improved the error handling when adding and removing translated content.

We have also been exploring New Scroll Viewport themes and want to hear your feedback!

Partial roll-out: Faster site generations for some selected sites

We have re-structured the generation process into set of self-contained tasks that can now be run in parallel. Generating multiple Viewport pages at the same time will (in most cases) result in faster site generations.

To be able to generate pages in parallel, we had to take into account that Viewport pages can depend on each other. For example, a label on a page might affect all the descendants of that page. This complexity is accounted for in this improvement.

This improvement is being rolled out to some selected bigger sites first and will reach all sites in some weeks.

A note above the site generation progress bar will let you know if the improvement is already rolled out to you. If you have any concerns or questions about this, please reach out to!

Available now: Set your ‘Site language’ when you create a new site

The ‘site language’ setting is now part of the site creation process for new sites. Before, you were only able to activate and set a language under ‘site settings’.

By making this available right from the start, we can ensure that your site metadata and texts in the theme are optimized for the right language. You can always change and extend the language(s) later in site settings.

Removal of cookies

Recently changed standards relating to the Cookie SameSite attribute now require that cookies with SameSite=None must now also specify the Secure attribute.

In order to adhere to the new standards, we have decided to make some more general adjustments for cookies on Scroll Viewport generated sites.

  • The cookies, shc-cookies and pageTreeState were removed and migrated to the browser's localStorage instead

  • Users who previously visited a helpcenter site and do this again are automatically migrated to localStorage

  • Users who have added the mentions of these cookies to their privacy notice can remove the mentions.
