Backbone Issue Sync 5.15.0
March 2025
We're excited to announce the release of Backbone Issue Sync 5.15.0. This update is officially compatible with Jira 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4. It also contains several bug fixes, including the fix for the in some cases removed link in the sync info panel.
Jira 10.2+ Compatibility
This update ensures compatibility with Jira 10.2 and higher.
This version only supports authentication via Personal Access Tokens (PAT) and does not work well with Basic Authentication (username/password).
Basic Authentication is still functional but is significantly slower and not officially supported in this version.
Why Use Personal Access Tokens?
Switching to a Personal Access Token (PAT) offers several advantages:
It does not allow to login via the UI
It’s easy to revoke without changing the password of the user
It’s not affected if the password of the user got changed
Additionally, as part of aligning with Atlassian's updates, PAT is the recommended method moving forward.
Migration Requirement
Before upgrading to Jira 10.2 or higher, make sure that you are using PAT. To check your current authentication method, navigate to the connection tab of your synchronization. Here you find information on the “personal access token“:
Check mark: indicates you are using PAT
Cross mark indicates you are using Basic Authentication (username/password)
For instructions on how to create and update a Personal Access Token, refer to our help article.
